Alajuela Province
With the following cantons: Alajuela, San Ramon, Naranjo, Atenas, Grecia, San Mateo, Palmares, Poás, Orotina, San Carlos, Alfaro Ruiz, Valverde Vega, Upala, Los Chiles and Guatuso.
The area of the province of Alajuela covers the major central highlands with Alajuela, is the second largest village in Costa Rica, the Poas Volcano, waterfalls and La Paz with the world's largest butterfly, the Northern Plains, with the Arenal Volcano, Hot Springs and its waterfalls.
Alajuela has many mountains, the lake's largest fresh water, Lake Arenal, beautiful hotels and the Juan Santamaria International Airport near the capital.
Cartago Province
With the following cantons: Cartago, Paraíso, La Unión, Jiménez, Turrialba, Alvarado, Oreamuno y El Guarco. 
Province of the capital with the same name, highlights the famous Basilica, the best Technical University, many mountains, volcanoes and the best in White Water Rafting, opportunity in the central highlands of Costa Rica.
Cartago has many peoples with different farmers producing coffee plantations, vegetables, sugar cane, potatoes, walnuts, pejibayes, and ornamental plants. It has National Parks and Protected Wildlife Refuge, as the National Park Zapantí, Irazu Volcano National Park, and that Guayabo National Monument archaeological site is the largest and most important discovered in Costa Rica.
Guanacaste Province
With the following cantons : Liberia, Nicoya, Santa Cruz, Bagaces, Carrillo, Cañas, Abangares, Tilarán, Nandayure, La Cruz y Hojancha. 
Liberia is the capital of this province warm and dry with the Nicoya peninsula bordering southern Nicaragua.
It offers pretty well known as the "Gold Coast" in the North Pacific region with many beaches and a paradise for sport fishing, surfers and sun lovers. It also offers an active volcano, the Old Corner, and large meadows with many livestock farms, sugar cane and rice plantations.
In the 18th century some neighbors of Rivas established their homes and livestock farms in the northern part of the Nicoya Peninsula at crossings that connect the peoples of Bagaces, Nicoya and Rivas. The place was named after a famous Guanacaste tree grow in the quarters.
Heredia Province
With the following cantons: Heredia, Barva, Santo Domingo, Santa Bárbara, San Rafael, San Isidro, Belén, Flores, San Pablo y Sarapiquí. 
Heredia with its capital of the same name which is located near San Jose and also not far from International Airport.
This province is full of surprises, tall mountains, jungle, plains, volcanoes, rivers and many suburb of the central highlands. Heredia also is border to Nicaragua and offers a vast range of activities from nature. Nature's River Canopy Tour and a bird watching between other things
You will find almost everything. In Heredia you can find in some industrial areas, but most of the area devoted to farming of coffee, vegetables, sugarcane, fruit, corn, beans, dairy, flower and plant exports.
Limón Province
With the following cantons: Limón, Pococí, Siquirres, Salamanca, Matina y Guácimo.
The capital city of Limon also has the same name as the province. It is situated along the Caribbean Sea in the Atlantic Coast with some of the most beautiful beaches and attractions of nature and parks of Costa Rica, as the Tortuguero National Park, the Bri Bri indigenous Reserve with the largest Indian tribe in the country, Puerto Banana and Caribbean style, multi-ethnic atmosphere of good humor that you will not find anywhere else. This province is bordering Panama and Nicaragua.
The name of the province comes from a lemon grove that was found in front of the governor's office that was unique in its class.
The main activities of the field are banana, pineapple, and palm oil production as well as the pejibaye, cocoa, bamboo, beans, fruits, coconuts and some farmers and fishermen.
Puntarenas Province
With the following cantons : Puntarenas, Esparza, Buenos Aires, Montes de Oro, Osa ,Aguirre, Golfito, Coto Brus, Parrita, Corredores y Garabito. 
The capital has the same name, is also a major port, the port or town for the fishing industry and cruise routes. It is also the most important province for tourism, travels across the beach towns of Mal Pais, Montezuma and Tambor on the Nicoya Peninsula till Panama with a large variety of endless beaches and calm breathtaking sunsets.
But it also covers areas such as mountainous Monteverde and Tilarán.
It has more hotels and a variety of vacational activities such as Cables in forests, with Sightseeing Crocodiles, swimming with the dolphins, the best waves throughout Latin America, and many famous national parks such as Manuel Antonio.
It also offers some areas with the greatest bio-diversity parks in the Natural Reserve of Cabo Blanco as well as the Corcovado National Park near Drake Bay National Park and Piedras Blancas near Golfito. More interior, there are also many small agricultural and industrial areas that produce vegetables, roots, corn, coffee, cocoa, snuff, rice, palm oil, sugar, beans and some livestock farms.
San José Province
With the following cantons : San José, Escazú, Desamparados, Puriscal, Tarrazú, Aserrí, Mora, Goicoechea, Santa Ana, Alajuelita, Vásquez de Coronado, Acosta, Tibás, Moravia, Montes de Oca, Turrubares, Dota, Curridabat, Pérez Zeledón y León Cortés. 
San Jose, also known as the hub of Costa Rica in the Central Valley to the capital of the province with the same name as well as the country's capital.
It is home to an endless list of nearby in the central highlands where most people and businesses of Costa Rica lies. But travels throughout the length of San Isidro de El General that almost touches the Pacific coast. The Province of San Jose also offers some of the highest mountains as the Cerro de la Muerte and Chirripo with 3821 meters and Braulio Carrillo National Park bigger, as well as wild mountain valleys Savegre River.
